Elsevier Bibliographic Databases and Health Sciences have joined forces to add definitions from Dorland's Medical Dictionary to many terms found on EMBASE.com, Elsevier's web-based service for biomedical and pharmacological information.

These definitions have been included in EMTREE, the thesaurus of drug and disease terms through which searches can be made on the platform. An end-user looking for records relating to terms such as "cholestatic hepatitis" via the "EMTREE key words" function, will find the corresponding definition from Dorland's Medical Dictionary within their search results.
